Events
School events bring learning to life and help shape our school culture. They help students build confidence, connect with others and celebrate their progress. Events also give families a chance to be involved in school life and share in their child’s achievements.
Our school event may include:

Swimming Carnival
Date: Term 1, week 2 and 3
Our annual swimming carnivals are held in the first and second weeks when school returns in February.
Students wear their sports house colours on the day.
Parent /Teacher meet and greet
Date: Term 1, week 4
The meet and greet is a great opportunity to meet your child's teacher!
Easter Hat Parade
Date: Term 1, week 11
Durning the week leading up to the Easter Holidays, families are invited to join in on helping their child decorate their hats for the Easter Hat Parade.
Anzac Day March
Date: 25th April
Lightning Ridge Central School Students are encouraged to participate in the Community ANZAC Day March to honour the service and sacrifice of our ANZAC’s.
Cross Country & Colour Run
Date: Term 2, week 2
K- 12 students begin their races at the school oval, running a course determined by their age. Following the cross country, students are a colour run!
Students wear their sports house colours on the day.
Athletics Carnival
Date: Term 2, week 8
The Primary and Secondary Athletics Carnivals are usually held on separate days, the day comprises of a mix of competitive and fun events for k - year 12 students.

NAIDOC Week
Date: Term 2, week 10
During NAIDOC week we honour and celebrate the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by participating in a wide rand of cultural events.
Book Week
Date: Term 3, week 5
Book Week is a special time at our school where we celebrate a love of reading. Students take part in fun activities throughout the week Including a placard parade more!
Science Fair
Date: Term 3, week 6
Students present their wacky experiments to their peers.
CAPA School Perfomance
Date: Term 4, week 8
Students K-12 will sing and dance with their peers to a medely of songs!
Presentation Day
Date: Term 4, week 9
Students are recognised for excellence in academics, leadership, and sports and are presented with awards.
